Phillips 66 believes the key to a secure energy future is the efficient and effective use of a variety of energy sources. Ethanol is one energy option which includes other renewable and alternative fuel sources, as well as traditional energy sources like crude oil and natural gas.
Phillips 66 is expanding the accessibility and potential use of E-85 by allowing marketers to offer this product under the branded canopy in the states of Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and Colorado. This is in response to requests from some of our marketers in these states that would like to sell an unbranded E-85 product under the branded canopy. The pilot program is available to about 1,300 sites in these states. The states were selected because of marketer requests as well as the availability of ethanol supply.
Phillips 66 allows branded marketers in all markets to continue selling E-85 outside the branded canopy in a separate unbranded fueling dispenser in all markets, if they choose.
Phillips 66 expects new image standards to be met by the marketers interested in selling E-85. Customer response along with other operational, demand and quality metrics from this expanded application will be evaluated to determine a future offering.
