Industry honors Phillips 66 for rail safety and sustainability

Three awards showcase leadership, performance and innovation

Phillips 66 was recently recognized by the rail industry for excellence in safety, sustainability and innovation in how they move their products every day, underscoring the company’s sustainability approach of collaborating across its supply chain to deliver energy more efficiently.

Phillips 66 was recently recognized for achieving zero accidental releases in 2024 — a significant benchmark in the rail industry.

The company proudly earned five NAR Awards from industry-leading rail companies, including Union Pacific Railroad, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, Canadian National Railway, CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway, commending the collective efforts of teams across logistics, commercial and operations who help ensure the safe and timely delivery of our products.

BNSF Railway has named Phillips 66 a 2025 Sustainability Award winner for demonstrating leadership in sustainable freight transportation of renewable fuels and feedstocks at the Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex.

The award acknowledges efforts such as advancing supply chain efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, implementing sustainable technologies and strengthening alliances focused on long-term environmental goals.

Norfolk Southern recognized Phillips 66 in their Fourth Annual Thoroughbred Sustainability Partner Awards for innovations that significantly contributed to a more sustainable future.

The award recognized Phillips 66 for the Methane Event Management System (MEMS), an in-house application that tracks methane emissions from detection to resolution.

Using satellites, drones, generative AI and machine learning, MEMS helps the company identify and respond to emissions more quickly, a major step forward in managing pipeline gas transportation.
