Phillips 66 has developed a new sorbent-based technology that is proving to be a very cost-effective solution for refineries facing challenges in meeting their selenium discharge limits. Existing technologies for selenium removal are complex, costly and usually inadequate, especially considering the likelihood that regulations controlling selenium discharge will continue to tighten.
Phillips 66’s SeRT® technology is a simple, fixed-bed process that looks and runs like many other refinery processes, SeRT® technology is not workforce intensive, and incorporates simple chemistry. Both translate into low-cost long run-time operations.
Through its SeRT® technology, Phillips 66 offers consultation in selenium separation from refinery water streams, and licensing of technology for selenium removal.
