What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy resolving problems and helping others. Supply Operations is often overwhelmed with unplanned issues and challenges. When I can find solutions that minimize or eliminate a negative impact on our customers, it is a feeling of accomplishment that is hard to match.

What’s one work-related project you’re most proud of and why?

The first time I was in this role, I was asked to do whatever I could to maximize Phillips 66 Avgas production. I used my knowledge and experience of rail and marine logistics to move product out faster so we could increase the number of blends completed in a year. This increased production, allowed us to sell more avgas, and lessen the need to supplement our supply from other producers.

What’s the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?

I was a manager at a well-known mortuary and cemetery in Hollywood, California for 12 years. While I had the opportunity to meet a few Hollywood stars, I got to help thousands of families cope with the loss of a loved one. It was the most fulfilling and gratifying job I have ever had.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I volunteer for Boy Scout Troop 6 in Bartlesville and enjoy overseeing the businesses my wife and I own. Mentoring the youth in our community is not only a gift to them, but it gives me a sense of purpose and a reminder that life is so much more than just earning a living and buying stuff. Helping these young people develop confidence and leadership skills is a joy to watch and be a part of.

What was your last vacation?

I organized and led an overlanding trip in Colorado for friends and my adult children. We drove Jeeps on challenging trails and camped in the mountains while enjoying breathtaking views.

What’s a surprising fact about you?

My wife and I own four businesses: an RV Park, rental houses, mini storage units and a T-shirt printing business.

What are you most proud of?

Both of my children were diagnosed with autism when they were very young. Both worked very hard with guidance from my wife and me and are now both successful young adults. My daughter just graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and my son is about to graduate from Southern Nazarene with honors next year. They are a testament to what can be accomplished with faith, hard work and determination.

How do you define success?

Success is finding happiness and serving others. The most important lesson we can learn is that happiness is a choice; you can find happiness in every situation if you have the right perspective. Be happy and inspire others to be happy as well.

What are you inspired by?

I’m inspired by Jesus Christ. He has taught me to focus on what is truly important in life, which is striving to be a better person through patience, kindness, forgiveness, and giving to those in need. Once I knew my salvation was secure through Him, I no longer worried about the little things in life and could focus on being a better person.
